JR各社から、07/29時点でのお盆期間(2010/08/11(水)～08/18(水)、8日間)の指定席予約状況が発表されました。
JR東海によれば、期間中の東海道新幹線の予約可能席数は275万席。そのうち、すでに予約された席数は89万席で、予約率は約32%です。同様に、JR西日本によれば山陽新幹線の予約可能席数は146万席で、予約席が51万席、予約率はおよそ35%だそうです。ピークは下りが08/12(木)、上りが08/15(日)と予想されており、一部の列車が満席に近づいているものの、その他の列車にはまだ座席の余裕があるそうです。
このピーク日の前後について、「新幹線時刻表」は独自に普通車指定席の予約状況を調査しました。予約状況は刻々と変化しますが、混雑傾向を把握する程度のご参考にどうぞ。以下のグラフは、6～24時の各時間帯に発車する列車について、予約状況をまとめたものです。横軸が時間帯、縦軸が列車の本数で、青色は空席のある列車、黄色は空席が残りわずかな列車、赤色が満席の列車を示します。つまり、青色の棒が高い時間帯なら、まだ指定席に十分な余裕があるということです。
データは、いずれも2010/08/01夜時点のものです。最新の指定席予約状況は、JRサイバーステーション(空席案内)でご確認ください。

JR companies reported the availability of reserved seats on Shinkansen trains from August 11, 2010 to 18, as of July 29.
According to JR Central, 890,000 of available 2,750,000 seats on Tokaido Shinkansen trains have been reserved already. JR West said 510,000 of 1,460,000 seats on Sanyo Shinkansen trains have been taken. In shortly, about 32% and 35% of available seats are now occupied. And they said the peak of crowding will be on August 12 for westbound trains and on August 15 for eastbound.
The charts shown below indicate seat availability of around the peak days by this site Shinkansen Timetable's independent survey. They maybe of some help to find remained seats. On the graphs, horizontal axes mean hours of 6 to 24 of each day and vertical the number of trains. The bar of blue shows underoccupied trains, yellow near capacity and red full occupancy. So it may easy to book trains at the hours with stretching blue bar.
