総務省近畿総合通信局の発表によれば、山陽新幹線の姫路駅から岡山県境(帆坂トンネルの岡山県側出口)までのトンネル区間で電波遮蔽対策事業が実施されるそうです。この事業によって、トンネル内でも携帯電話が途切れずに利用できるようになります。サービス開始予定は2011年3月とのこと。
なお、トンネル内での携帯電話利用に対する同様の対策は東海道新幹線の東京～新大阪間では2003年に実施済みです。また、新大阪～姫路間は現在整備中で、今月中にサービスを開始する予定だそうです。姫路まで整備された1年後には岡山県境まで、整備区間が拡大するわけですね。
今回の事業区間より西は総務省中国総合通信局・九州総合通信局のエリアになりますが、いまのところ山陽新幹線のトンネル内での電波遮蔽対策事業について実施の発表はないようです。また、N700系車内での無線LANによるインターネット接続は携帯電話とは別のしくみ(漏洩同軸ケーブル(LCX))を利用しているため、ひきつづき東京～新大阪間でのサービス提供となります。
Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said verbal and data communications on mobile phones in Shinkansen tunnels will be available between Himeji and east end of Okayama Pref. from March, 2011.
Antenna installation for tunnels were completed between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka by 2003 and the installation reaching Himeji by the end of this month. Improved zones are extended and in a year it will have been to the east end of Okayama Pref.
At this moment, any antenna installation plans for sections west of Okayama Pref. are not announced. And the providing zone of internet access service through N700 series in-vehicle wireless LAN will have been restricted within Tokaido Shinkansen between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka for a while, because its communication method and required equipments are different from the antennas for the mobile communication.
