2010年の元日に限り、山陽新幹線を含むJR全線と智頭急行全線の特急列車や普通列車に乗り放題の「元日・JR西日本乗り放題きっぷ」が発売になりました。少し足を伸ばした初詣にということで、JR西日本エリア内の10の社寺でおみくじや拝観料割引などの特典が用意されているそうです。ふだんの乗り放題系きっぷにはないお正月らしい特典で元日のお出かけをお楽しみください。
お得なきっぷには「2名以上」という制限の多いJR西日本には珍しく、「元日・JR西日本乗り放題きっぷ」は1名でも利用できるそうです。

JR West released a special discount ticket for New Year's Day in 2010. It is Ganjitsu JR West Norihodai Ticket (元日・JR西日本乗り放題きっぷ meaning JR West Unlimited Ride Ticket on New Year's day) and it allows unlimited travel on January 1, 2010. They are offering first visit to a distant shrine and some benefit for ticket holders are available at major 10 shrines.
Though most special discount tickets released by JR West in these days are for travelers at least two persons traveling along, this ticket is good for also a traveler.
