  • Peak day prediction of 2018 summer holidays travel

    According to this site Shinkansen Timetable’s independent survey, the train congestion peaks during coming summer holidays (August 9, 2018 – 19) will be August 11 for outbound trains and August 18 for inbound ones because many users search the travel plans here for these days.

  • Alternative transportation by Shinkansen after the heavy rain in July 2018

    The transport facilities are heavily damaged over large areas from the heavy rain of this month in Chugoku area. Now, the alternate transportation service by Sanyo Shinkansen is available between Mihara – Hiroshima, Shin-Iwakuni – Tokuyama because Sanyo Line and Kure Line’s services between Mihara – Kaitaichi, Sanyo Line’s service between Yanai – Tokuyama and whole of Gantoku Line’s service are suspended.

  • ”Kodama Gentei Jiyuseki Katamichi Ticket” will be released.

    To support for reconstruction of the flood-stricken district, JR West will release a new discount ticket. This ticket “Kodama Gentei Jiyuseki Katamichi Ticket” (こだま限定自由席片道きっぷ) makes participants in volunteer activities easy to take Shinkansen for their returning travels. Therefore, this is available only in one direction from the activity area to Shin-Osaka.

  • Free Wi-Fi service will be available soon.

    JR Central, JR West and JR Kyushu released they will release free Wi-Fi service in Shinkansen trains from July 25. The SSID is “Shinkansen_Free_Wi-Fi”. To use, passengers’ mail address or SNS verification will be required.

  • Local train services in Chugoku area after the heavy rain.

    The transport facilities are heavily damaged over large areas from the heavy rain of this month in Chugoku area. Now, Sanyo Shinkansen’s service between Shin-Osaka and Hakata is available but local train services are still suspended. JR West reported the availabilities of local train services on July 12.
