A new safety fence on Shin-Kobe Station’s track #1 will be in service from July 19. The old fence built in December 1977 will be replaced this new one.
The antenna installation work in tunnels of Kyushu Shinkansen for the verbal and data communication over mobile phones are progressing. From July 16, mobile communications through NTT DoCoMo, KDDI (au) and Softbank (including Y! mobile), and MVNO over these networks will be available in a part of tunnels between Shin-Yatsushiro and Shin-Minamata.
Due to an increase in consumption tax from October 1, the price of Shinkansen tickets will be changed. The appreciation rate will be 1.852%. For example, Tokyo – Shin-Osaka will be 14,720 yen.
For travel by Kyushu Shinkansen and other local limited express trains, JR Kyushu released Kyushu Family Net Hayatoku 7 (九州ファミリーネット早特7), which is purchasable until seven days before the travel date. This ticket needs at least one adult and a child to go with. For example, tickets for an adult and a child which costs usually 7,690 yen (5,130 yen for an adult and 2,560 yen for a child) is available at 3,350 yen (2,350 yen for an adult and 1,000 yen for a child). It means 4,840 yen off (saving about 56,4%).
At Tokaido Shinkansen’s in-car sales, new mango ice cream will be sold from July 4 at 370 yen.
