2018’s new train schedule was unveiled.

JR companies released the outlines of new service schedule starts from March 17, 2018.

The key points of this train schedule revision is as follows.

Tokaido Shinkansen
Some Nozomi train will travel speedy between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka.
Seasonal Nozomi train will run from Nagoya to Tokyo in the early morning.
Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen
The schedules of almost daily available Mizuho services will be changed.
Kyushu Shinkansen
A connection will be improved from Nozomi to last Tsubame for Kumamoto.
Travel frequencies of Sakura and Tsubame will be decreased.

Some Nozomi train will travel speedy between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka.

Because the number of N700A cars is increased, more trains start to run at 285 km/h. The out bound 12 trains departing at Tokyo at 07:10, 07:20, 07:40, 08:10, 08:20, 08:40, 18:10, 18:20, 18:40, 19:10, 19:20 and 19:40 will travel three minutes faster between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka. Especially trains at 07:10, 08:10, 18,10 and 19:10 connects these cities in 2 hours 27 minutes and the other trains in 2 hours 30 minutes.

To reach Tokyo earlier, Hikari 500 (Nagoya 06:20 – Tokyo 08:13) is the only train to take. New seasonal Nozomi 90 (Nagoya 06:28 – Tokyo 08:07) will arrive Tokyo earlier than Hikari 500. Alomost daily available Mizuho 615 and Mizuho 616 are changed their schedule for travel. The total frequency of Mizuho (daily 12 and almost daily 4) has no change. Mizuho 615 (outbound) and Mizuho 614 (inbound) additionally stop at Kurume and Mizuho 619 (outbound) and Mizuho 616 (inbound) additionally stop at Sendai.

The connection from Nozomi 57, arrives Hakata at 23:10, to last Tsubame for Kumamoto, departs Hakata at 23:10, will be improved because Nozomi 57 will run faster on Tokaido Shinkansen and three minutes shorter between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka than before. The Hakata arrival time of Nozomi 57 will be 23:07. It can be connectable to Tsubame of departing at 23:10. Therefore, the sojourn time in Kansai area will be maximum 37 minutes longer than before. The last Tsubame train will be Tsubame 351 after the revision of train schedule.

Travel frequencies of Sakura and Tsubame will be decreased.

New trains Tsubame 325 (Hakata 13:56 – Kagoshima-Chuo 15:44) and Tsubame 322 (Kagoshima-Chuo 11:06 – Hakata 12:59) will run. JR Kyushu said that more direct service between Chikugo-Funagoya, Shin-Omuta, Shin-Tamana – Kagoshima-Chuo is available. But new Tsubame 325’s schedule is much same as existing Tsubame 327 and Sakura 411 and new Tsubame 322’s schedule as Sakura 402 and Tsubame 322. This integrattion manner may be a way of decreasing of train services.
