JR Central announced “Family Cabins” (ファミリー車両) will be available in Nozomi trains again during coming winter holidays. Those are special cabins for families traveling with children under primary school age by Tokaido Shinkansen trains in such busiest periods. Families can be on board with crying and screaming little babies without hesitation. That may be a great option for family travelers.

This season’s Family Cabins are available in 98 trains from December 15 to January 9, one outbound and one inbound a day. Double/triple daily outbound/inbound services are available on some days.

The elevators to go with buggies and large baggage are located on the platforms as follows.

  • Tokyo: near Car No. 7
  • Shinagawa: near Car No. 2
  • Shin-Yokohama: near Car No. 11
  • Nagoya: near Car No. 9
  • Kyoto: near Car No. 11 on outbound tracks and car No. 8 on inbound tracks
  • Shin-Osaka: near Car No. 10 – 12
