General Information of Kyushu Shinkansen

Kyushu Shinkansen is a high-speed rail line between Hakata and Kagoshima-Chuo (256.8 km), via 10 stations such as Kumamoto. The fastest train travels between Hakata and Kagoshima-Chuo for 1 hour 17 minutes. 127 trains on average of 2014′s April – June run a day. There are three kinds of trains running; the super express servicing Mizuho, express Sakura and local Tsubame. Mizuho and some of Sakura go through to Sanyo Shinkansen beyond Hakata.

The figure above shows Stations and stopping trains on Kyushu Shinkansen. In the station name's box, marked of "" means most trains stop there and "" means most trains pass. Figures between stations are required times to travel between those stations. "*" in the rough standardtime box means need to change trains on the way, and figures don't include transferring time.

Kyushu Shinkansen has 12 Mizuho services a day, traveling through to Sanyo Shinkansen between Shin-Osaka and Kagoshima-Chuo. All Mizuho stop at Hakata, Kumamoto and Kagoshima-Chuo.

Sakura has 54 services a day. 17 of them are travel within Kyushu Shinkansen. All Sakura stop at Hakata, Shin-Tosu, Shin-Kurashiki, Kumamoto, Sendai and Kagoshima-Chuo. More than 60% of them stops at Shin-Yatsushiro, Shin-Minamata and Izumi as local stop service between Kumamoto and Kagoshima-Chuo. Because two Sakura stopping each of Chikugo-Funagoya, Shin-Omuta and Shin-Tamana, no station on Kyushu Shinkansen doesn’t have Sakura stops.

60 Tsubame services are available on Kyushu Shinkansen a day. Tsubame train stops all stations during the travel. More than 70% of Tsubame trains run between Hakata and Kumamoto. Nine Tsubame trains travel between Hakata and Kagoshima-Chuo. Additionally, Tsubame services between Hakata and Chikugo-Funagoya, Kumamoto / Sendai and Kagoshima-Chuo are available.
